5-0 out of 5 stars Best decision I ever made!, June 3, 2009
I purchased a refurbished PS3 on EBay because I wanted the 60gB model that is no longer being produced. I'd never purchased an extended warranty before, but decided to do so because it was a refurb. I am SO glad I did!

Unfortunately, the product failed about 5 months after purchase - it stopped reading games. This was a personal tragedy for my 11 year old, who LOVES his PS3. I contacted Square Trade and received an immediate answer, suggesting I first try a firmware update at home. When that didn't work, I emailed back and received a reply that a postage prepaid box wss being shipped to my home. I shipped the defective unit to their repair center and received a repaired unit in a couple of weeks. I received emails from Square Trade when the item was received, repaired, and shipped back, and I could check the status on their web site at any time as well.

The process could not have been any easier or more efficient. It was a huge relief for me to know that my expensive purchase was not going to become a doorstop (or incur huge repair costs elsewhere.) I would HIGHLY recommend this company for warranty service, especially if you are purchasing a refubished item. It's so rare to find really good customer service these days - I can't say enough about how pleased I am!

5-0 out of 5 stars square trade the way to go!, May 5, 2009
I can't say enough about square trade warranties, but can tell you it's great that you can buy them direct on amazon.com now instead of having to go to thier website after your purchase. A couple of years ago I bought a warranty from square trade on an ebay item I purchased and 5 months later It broke. I called square trade and they told me to send it back, they paid postage, and quickly sent me a check for the full amount I paid. No questions asked. And no hassles. Folks you realy can't beat them when it comes to service. This last Christmas I bought a new 46" flat panel tv, hidef dvd recorder, and cordless phones. And I bought the warranties from square trade without batting an eye. Three year warranties where a third of what my friends paid for thiers at best buy, circuit city, ultimate, and Amercas... Amazon.co and square trade, best of both worlds!

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommend!! A Pleasure doing business with!!, April 29, 2009
I Highly recommend purchasing a warranty from Square Trade! I had purchased an xbox 360 off ebay and had it about 2 mths until I started having problems with it when I contacted square trade the represenative was very nice and helpful. He emailed me a pre-paid postage stamp and I sent the xbox 360 and it only took a couple of days before they sent sent me the money to my paypal account...They are excellent!!! I will absolutely recommend Square Trade!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars SquareTrade Warranties, May 15, 2009

I bought an X Box 360 Elite back in January of this year. The seller had a great price on the product, so I made the purchase. The same day I got an email from SquareTrade regarding the X Box Elite, offering a two year warranty plan for $40 some odd dollars. It was cheaper then the other warranties I had researched and covered the same things if not more. One of my better investments I must say. In April my Elite started to give me the Ring of Death, much to my surprise. I contacted the seller and X Box customer support to find that I was basically on my own. Like I said one of my better investments was in the SquarTrade warranty. I made my claim on April 22nd and with one call had a claim # and prepaid shipping label for my console. I took my sweet time sending it to them because I was being lazy, but on May 9th I sent the console. On May 12th they received it and on May 13th my claim was approved. These guys are great and will actually do what there warranties are provided for. No hassle or B.S. just fast service and competent help. I highly recommend them for any electronics warranties you may be looking into. They are at www.squaretrade.com or call them at 1-877-warranty.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nothing square about Squaretrade!!!, May 2, 2009
I purchased a Playstation 3 off of Ebay a few months ago and had to basically convince myself to buy a warranty. Boy, am I glad i did! Three months after i received my console, it went out. Luckily, it was covered by squaretrade. I had to pay Sony upfront for the repairs but as soon as i faxed the work order to squaretrade, they reimbursed my money within two working days. I am very glad i purchased this from them. It was cheap AND a great deal. Thanks Squares!

5-0 out of 5 stars MUCH better service than Manufacturers Warranties!, August 13, 2010
Absolutely a no brainer here. My HP Printer died on day 364 of the 1 year HP Manufacturer warranty. I fought w/HP throughout process, and they stated that my Warranty had expired 75 days prior--impossible, as I had the Amazon receipt to prove it. Tech could not fix it, and said it would be 7-14 days before someone could get back to me to inquire/fix the warranty issue. Of course, it would have been at least another week once I got the repair set up and complete. I called SquareTrade, who held an extended Warranty on the priner, and in less than 5 minutes, the rep told me he would make the claim and approve it once he got my receipt. I sent the receipt, received an affadavit to sign, and 3 days later...a new Amazon Gift Card Plus 5%. 5 days later I am still waiting for HP to call me, and I'll have my new printer next week--and purchased another SqT warranty!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars So worth it!, January 29, 2010
I've bought multiple Square Trade warranties over the past few years. I've had to make claims on two items. One was for an mp3 player several years ago: it was malfunctioning so I mailed it in, couldn't be fixed, so I received a check refunding the full purchase price within days! My second experience with a claim was just last week when I dropped my iPhone in the toilet...fortunately I had purchased a SquareTrade warranty as Apple does not cover water damage. I filed a claim, received a package in the mail for me to send my phone in for repair (they covered all shipping charges--class act), and today it was UPS'ed back to me in perfect working condition. Voila! Why they're the best:
*SquareTrade always has the best prices on warranties.
*I love that you can purchase warranties through them regardless of where you bought the item.
*They interact in the most professional manner.
*They always make good on honoring claims.

I've had such excellent experiences with SquareTrade, that I will continue to buy ALL future warranties through them.

    5-0 out of 5 stars A definite Yes, June 9, 2009
Getting a Square Trade Warranty was the best decision I made. I bought my son an xbox system on ebay and it broke about 10 months later. SquareTrade sent me a postage-paid label and I sent back the broken xbox. They sent me a refund directly to my paypal account within a week. No hassles, no worries. They e-mail you every step of the way with where you are in your return, i.e., they let you know when your package is picked up by UPS, they let you know when the package was received, they let you know the item is being looked at, they let you know that the refund is on it's way to you. I would definitely recommend a Square Trade Warranty.

5-0 out of 5 stars Peace of Mind, April 28, 2010
I just bought the 120g ps3 and decided to get the 3 year warranty with it. I totally recomend it especially with these gaming systems. I had the 80g ps3 and it died on me in April of 2010. I bought it in June of 07. Had I had the 3 year warranty I would have been safe. If you are deciding whether to get it or not. JUST GET IT. PEACE OF MIND.

5-0 out of 5 stars Square Trade well worth it!, May 5, 2009
I have used SquareTrade for a few years and have had 2 items quite working. One was an HP LaserJet 1020 and the other, a Samsung DVD/VCR Recorder Combo unit. They refunded my full purchase price with no questions asked. Great company that stands behind their promise.

After satisfying the documentation requirements, our full refund of the purchase price of our failing XBOX 360 was sent to us via Paypal. We are well satisfied.

A little confusion when communicating via e-mail when the item we warrantied quit working. But when we spoke with an actual person, our warranty was processed professionally.

5-0 out of 5 stars SquareTrade is the best thing that ever happened to Ebay, December 10, 2009
Wow. All I can say is wow. I bought a Playstation 3 on ebay 3 months ago. I was worried that it would break so I purchased a warranty from SquareTrade. After I reported it broken they sent me some possible fixes. When those didn't work they had me send it in(they paid for shipping). They sent it to their repair team. After a week of them recieving it. I had the money in my paypal account. I even got reimbursed for the 2 games I got with the playstation and I didn't send those to them. They gave me a full refund of the purchase price. I couldn't be happier. Thanks SquareTrade.

5-0 out of 5 stars Square Trade Warranty, October 23, 2009
It was a great purchase at a great price. I have had to return 2 items, an ipod & a Navigon GPS. My problem may have been unique with the Navigon warranty which they didn't have a record of but they took the time to research it & eventually I did get my refund. Easy return system & helpful staff.

5-0 out of 5 stars Interesting Fact, July 13, 2010
I'm not sure what I can say about a warranty before I have to use it, and since the product that the warranty is associated with is brand-new, I cannot comment on the quality of the Square Trade warranty.

However, after I got the warranty, I found out that Square Trade offers blanket warranty service for any electronic thing that you purchase. In other words, if you are a person who prefers to get warrantees for the things that you purchase, there is no need to purchase in-store warranties for your electronics. They claim that you can save a lot of money by going with Square Trade for your warranties, though I cannot comment on that. You can put the warrantees for all your electronics online with Square Trade, and keep track of them on your account page.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Service, quick return, January 26, 2010
I bought a refurbished XBOX360 off ebay and thought it would be a good idea to get it insured. As luck would have it, within a year of usage the Ring of Death showed up.

However, the claim was hassle-free and the service, both over email and over the phone was very prompt and helpful.

Will always get this warranty for used and refurbished items off ebay in the future.

Bought this warranty for our Panasonic Microwave recently. I think it is competitively priced and offers wonderful piece of mind. Hopefully, nothing happens whereby we have to use it. Their website offers a place to manage your warranties, send in your invoice etc. From what I've seen, they seem professional and highly sophisticated. Will definitely buy again with any other online electronic purchases.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST WARRANTY SERVICE!, December 10, 2009
i Love squaretrade! i had bought a used xbox 360 and covered it with square trade. when my xbox rrod'd ater about a year, i put the prepaid shipping label on it (they provide for free) & in 4 days they got it reviewed it and gave me all the money i bought it for back. with the money i bought a new xbox and after about a year that one broke down as well. same process as before, and within 6 days i got my money back and bought another new xbox.

1-0 out of 5 stars Beware! This is for a NEW item!, March 19, 2010
I gave this one star because it does not belong with the item I purchased. I know nothing about the effectiveness of the warranty.
I purchased an Xbox 360 refurb console and the Square Trade warranty popped up as a option to buy.
Would Amazon.com suggest something that didn't belong with a particular item? Didn't think so, I had no experience with that. But now I KNOW so.
This warranty is for a NEW console. You have to buy one from Square Trade for a refurb. It is more expensive and for only 2 years.
After I registered on the ST website, I noticed they said my Xbox was new. I called and they told me I had bought the wrong warranty. They had no problem refunding my money and I then purchased the more expensive warranty on their website.
Shame on you Amazon.com for suggesting this item, shame on me for not doing more thorough research.
    Hope this helps someone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fast, Easy and Pain Free, December 17, 2009
We purchased a squaretrade warranty for a portable DVD player and unfortunately got a lemon of a product.
    This was our story...
We used the player once and got a disc error message, since it was still under the factory warranty we paid to send it back to the manufacturers, got it back a month later only to find out the screen has gone out when it was being fixed/shipped. When we called the company back they would not cover it since it was now out of the warranty period, plus they did not cover screens.

So we figured we would put a claim in with Squaretrade fully expecting to get the same run around. However we were pleasantly surprised. We filed our claim, they sent us the shipping label, we got a conformation three days later that it had arrived and that we would receive a full reimbursement of the purchase price within a few days.

I couldn't believe how simple and painless it was and at a competitive price. We will be doing business with squaretrade again.

    5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome, May 5, 2009
I have used Squaretrade multiple times for warranties and once for a claim. It was the most professional and wonderful experience I have ever had with warranties. If you are looking for a great warranty with a company that backs up their promises, go with Squaretrade!

5-0 out of 5 stars So worth the money, January 28, 2010
I purchased a used Xbox and thank goodness added a 2 year SquareTrade warranty for around $12. Like all Xbox's, this one was junk and got the same ring of death that I've read many others have gotten. I first sent it to Microsoft and they said they would fix it for $99, which is all I paid for it in the first place. I decided it wasn't worth it so I decided to make use of the SquareTrade warranty. I sent the Xbox to SquareTrade and in less than 2 weeks my money was refunded- no hassles at all.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Have for Electronics!, December 1, 2009
Well, so I bought a Pioneer Premier car MP3/CD player. About a week after the 2 year manufacturer's warranty was up, wouldn't you know it, I started to have issues...first the face illumination lights wouldn't work. Than a month later the CD wouldn't eject. I'm glad I got a SquareTrade 3 year warranty! At the time I purchased the Pioneer, SquareTrade sent a message asking if I wanted a 3 year warranty for the stereo. It was a promotion and it was a measly $9.00 on my $150 stereo, so I said sure. Usually their warranties are about 15% of the piece of the item, FYI.
Anyway, when I decided to file a claim it took 16 days start to finish. Filed my claim, sent my item in(which they fully paid and didn't deduct from my claim amount; don't know how common that is...)which they approved and gave me a full refund through Paypal. Very hassle free. I really recommend their services for laptops, car CD players & car amps: products which are know to have to deal with vibration and extreme heat on a routine basis.

5-0 out of 5 stars No problem at all...., December 2, 2009
Everything that I bought on Ebay and refurbished has squaretrade warranties.
So far I had to make two claims and had no problem at all.
    Just great!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great communication, August 6, 2010
I don't normally purchase extended warranties. However, my routers die out in a year or two, so, with the low price of the 3 year extended warranty, I decided to get it. Although I haven't used it (and hope I don't have to), I find their communications to be very good.

They made a mistake on the warranty period, discovered the error, and contacted me to let me know it would be corrected. They have been very responsive. The only thing I would like to see improved, so far, is clear instructions that you need to upload your receipt to them so they have the actual product name that the warranty covers. Otherwise the warranty just say's "Electronic item" (electronic in my case).

I like their site where you can log in and see your warranty information. Also, the people I spoke to were friendly.

I'm satisfied that if I need to use the warranty coverage, it will be taken care properly.

5-0 out of 5 stars PAYS FOR ITSELF, July 16, 2010
Purchased an Ipod that unfortunately did not last over 2 years. Contacted Square Trade and received a refund in less than a week.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fast Purchase and Online Service, September 2, 2010
I just purchased this 3 year warranty for a new printer, and I am impressed how easy it is to send the receipt to them electronically, and I received my contract/warranty in less than 24 hours! I already know that SquareTrade has great service with their claims and repairs, so I have no regrets buying the 3 year warranty for this new printer.

3-0 out of 5 stars They'll cover used items from eBay, not not from Amazon Marketplace., September 13, 2010
I have a SquareTrade warranty on a new item I purchased in a local big box store, and I'm very happy with their service. As a company, they're trustworthy, or seem so, anyway.

However, I take issue with their favoritism for eBay. What am I talking about? Look at the terms above, in the product description. They will only cover NEW items purchased here, and will not cover used or refurbished. However, they WILL cover used or refurbished if the item was bought on eBay.

So why does an eBay sale of a used item get the ability to be covered by a SquareTrade warranty, but a used item purchased here is not allowed?

I spoke to SquareTrade via email, and they confirmed this: eBay gets warranty service for used items, but this site does not.

This seems very unfair to me. What makes an item sold here less worthy than an item sold at the auction site? Why do the Marketplace sellers and buyers here have to deal with being second-class citizens as far as SquareTrade is concerned?

I really like SquareTrade, but I think this policy is rather bone-headed and uneven. So while I give them five stars for the things they do cover here (new, in-box items), I dock them two stars for giving buyers here fewer options than buyers at the eBay auction site.

It's simply not fair, but it's their business, and if they want to shut out all of us buying on this Marketplace, it's their prerogative.

4-0 out of 5 stars SquareTrade worked well for me!, July 26, 2010
Bought a SquareTrade warranty for my daughter's MP3 player, just in case...and I am glad that I did. The device failed about a year after purchase. Submitted claim to SquareTrade, and purcahse price was deposited into my PayPal account in just a few days. The only way this could have been better was if they had offered to repair/replace the unit, because now I have to shop for a replacement. Not a huge copmplaint though, getting the money back is way better than having no recourse at all. ... Read more

    4-0 out of 5 stars Comparison with N.E.W. warranty, November 11, 2009
The product I bought (Panasonic microwave) led to an offer of both the SquareTrade warranty and N.E.W. warranty. 2-Year Replacement Plan for Electronics Products $100 to $124.99 I bought the SquareTrade warranty which did not have a link to its "terms and conditions" on the Amazon site. You can only view the complete description of the contract after you have paid for it (but you can get a full refund of either company's warranty within the first 30 days). The terms and conditions of the N.E.W. warranty are available for view prior to purchase. There are significant differences.
The main differences I can see is that the N.E.W. replacement warranty provides the full replacement cost upon covered breakdown (but you still have to ship or deliver the item to the N.E.W. facility at your own cost -- That's in the fine print.)
The SquareTrade warranty allows it to give you a "similar" refurbished replacement item, repair it (with non-original parts), or pay "up to the replacement cost" of the item. If ST decides to pay the replacement cost, it will deduct the cost of any prior repairs, so you may not have enough to actually replace the item if it breaks down more than once. ST's replacement item will not be covered by the warranty; ST's coverage stops once it has provided services up to the purchase price of the item. You can't get coverage at that point and if the replacement breaks down, you're out of luck. To the good, ST does provide round-trip free shipping for repairs (and guarantees repairs within 5 days). But if ST decides the problem was not covered under the warranty, the shipping is not free.
Under the ST warranty, if your item is large enough to qualify for in-house service, it might be a better deal. It seems more likely (imho) that your item will actually be repaired rather than replaced with an unwarrantable refurbished item if a repair person schedules a visit and comes to your house. Again, though, the repair parts don't have to be original manufacturer's parts and coverage stops once the cost of the repairs equals the purchase price.
Another major difference is the extent of coverage. After the expiration of coverage under the manufacturer's warranty, N.E.W.'s warranty expressly covers normal wear and tear and damage caused by the environment. SquareTrade covers "normal use and operation of the product when used in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and owner's manual" (long list of exclusions and caveats following such as exposure to weather, dust, rust, insects, cracked or damaged monitors or display screens, liquids, etc.) If it's offered, you can buy additional Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH) warranty coverage for which there is a $50 deductible. The description of ST's ADH coverage excludes negligence and normal wear and tear (along with a list of other exclusions). It's not clear what's left. ADH coverage was not offered with my item.
While N.E.W. offers a two-year warranty and SquareTrade a three-
year warranty, that difference appears to be one of semantics. N.E.W. says its warranty begins after the manufacturer warranty ends, whenever that may be. For my item, it's one year, so N.E.W. would cover years two and three. SquareTrade coverage begins on the date of purchase but excludes any claim during the period covered by the manufacturer's warranty so realistically, it's only good the last two years of the three-year period.
If my Panasonic microwave is eligible for in-home repair, SquareTrade may be a good deal. I don't expect to drop it or leave it in the rain and would prefer not to pay to ship it to a facility (as I would have to do to get the replacement cost from N.E.W.) But if the cost of a single in-home repair is going to eat up the entire value of my warranty (or even half), I will check into the shipping cost and may opt for N.E.W. instead.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great value!!!, December 25, 2009
I bought a refurbished Xbox 360 with a 90 day limited warranty from the company that sold it to me and received an offer by email for the Square Trade warranty for the device for a very reasonable amount. I normally don't opt for extended warranties on things I purchase but I had heard that there have been some issues with older Xbox 360 units so I thought it might be a worthwhile investment. Turns out I was right, after about a year of using my game console without issue I turned on the unit and it had the dreaded red ring of death. Long story short, they reimbursed my Paypal account for the entire amount of purchase and even sent me a prepaid shipping label. I highly recommend Square Trade, they are aces!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Square Trade Warranties, June 19, 2009
I was leary at first to sign up for this warranty service. I must say I was very surprised when I needed to use it that it was as hassle free as could be. The customer service supplied was excellent. After calling to advise of a problem with my purchase, they sent a prepaid label and advised me exactly what to expect. I received a full refund of my purchase price within 7 days. I would definitely purchase Square Trade Warranties in the future!

1-0 out of 5 stars Good luck getting them on the phone, September 25, 2010
I am sure their warranty is good, and the people you eventually reach on the phone are nice, but their wait time SUCKS.
Trying to get through to them is tiring. It takes forever and I hate their electronic voice switching system. Press 1 if you are bored. Press 2 if you have died from waiting too long!

I really hope they read this and DO something about their phone service. I am sure their warranty service is ok, but I was unable to live long enough to find out from them where I would take my stuff if I had a claim, and I still don't know

5-0 out of 5 stars Best insurance I've had in a long time, February 9, 2010
When I purchased items for Christmas for my children on Ebay, this warranty was offered on both items. It was not expensive and seemed like a good idea at the time. The insurance effective date of December worked well since I purchased the items in late October. It gave me a little leeway to work with. Well sure enough in January, my daughter's item became defective. I had to call upon the warranty people at Square Trade. They were helpful in giving my useful tips on how to make the item operational. When that did not work, I got no hassle on how to get the item to them and then later getting my money back. It was all done in a timely manner. The slow end was myself. I am glad I purchased the warranty and would so consider them for anything else I purchase in the future.

We purchased a Nintendo DS Lite for Christmas 2008. By January 1, 2010, the Nintendo did not work. I filed a claim, sent in my receipts and the item with postage prepaid to SquareTrade. They sent a refund quickly after reviewing the receipt and item. Paid as stated on the warranty. Very quick and easy.

good value for the price. also, found out you can insure any product you purchase with them. that's great considering i purchased a gps thru best buy the warranty for 2 yrs was $54. the warranty with square trade was $17. for 3 yrs. well worth the money.

    5-0 out of 5 stars 3-year Warranty, September 5, 2010
I purchased the 3-year warranty mainly because the Garmin nuvi 1350 was factory refurbished. It will only be rated good if SquareTrade repairs my Garmin 1350 if it ever fails. So far so good.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for the price, June 23, 2009
Squaretrade does beat all retailers prices on warranties. And there service os above average. Few downsides if you get their warranty for gaming, they make you pay for repairs up front then reimburse you. And they slow with contact I always had to email them to get them to tell me where I was at in the claim process.

1-0 out of 5 stars too complicated, October 4, 2010
I agreed to purchase this insurance on the g.p.s., I purchased. I thought it would be automatically be applied to the product, but in reading the insurance info it seems I have to register the product and fax a copy of the reciept. I tried to get the Insurance cancelled but by the time I got around to do this, my 30 day time period has lapsed. I feel I have just wasted the money for protection, and I cannot afford to waste money this way as I have just been laid off. Most people are too busy to take time to do all these things. 'when Ins. is sold it should be automatically applied to the product that is being bought. I feel like I have been scammed. Allen Dotson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Warranties, April 10, 2009
Squaretrade offers the most affordable and dependable warranties of any company I have seen. Every electronic I purchase has a Squaretrade warranty. Although I have only made two claims since I started with Squaretrade I was pleasantly surprised that my claim was handled within days not weeks like other companies and I received a full refund for my product's purchase price, not some refurbished piece of junk. I would definitely recommend Squaretrade to anyone.

1-0 out of 5 stars Caution! Read the fine print!, November 18, 2010
The link to the actual product service contract (psw) was dead. I could not view the psw prior to purchase. Anytime someone selling me says "trust me" YET what is is writing does NOT match what they say then that is unacceptable. Discrepancies: 1) YOU must pay for shipping the item back; sure , they provide a so-called "free pre-paid shipping label" however, the value of the shipping is deducted from your settlement. 2) Did you ever plug your electrical item in to an outlet? Was that outlet surge protected? Are you ready for this... YOU may have to remove your surge protector and ship it to SQ for "inspection". So many exclusions that I'll just quote a few: "INTERMITTENT ISSUES ARE NOT CONSIDERED PRODUCT FAILURES". Failures related to "electrical supply" NOT covered!!! 3) "Although We maintain a record of Your Service Agreement purchase, You must have in YOUR possession a copy or Your Original purchase receipt in order to present a claim.

The last clause of the contract is titled "ENTIRE CONTRACT". In the event that the nice sales folks over at SQ Trade make any verbal assurances or even if they send you an "email clarification", the ENTIRE CONTRACT clause nullifies any verbal or email assurance which you may have received from a S-trade employee. This clause prohibits any of their employees from modifying the original service contract. The truth of the matter is that any service which SQ TR is providing at this point is repair or replacement that is "goodwill". In other words, they really are not obligated, by terms of your service contract, to provide repair or replacement in most any foreseeable failure scenarios. Why do you have to retain the original receipt if you have already submitted a copy? How readable will your original receipt be in three years? If we have learned anything since 2008 it is that the fine print DOES matter. Sooner, rather than later any of the provisions may be enforced to improve the bottom line.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent! Best warranty service offered, period!, April 27, 2010
Square-trade has by far been the best warranty service I have ever owned. They live up to their word, and deliver ever time. I had to make 2 claims on a refurbished xbox 360, and both were incredibly easy. I was surprised. No fees, no questions. Just simply works. Would recommend for any product on the market. Best warranty service, period.

5-0 out of 5 stars Customer Service - First Class, March 4, 2010
I purchased a refurbished HP Slimline Computer 12/08. SquareTrade advertised their warranty that was 1/3 the cost from HP, so I signed up. The motherboard went out within the first year. I discovered it only had a 90 day warranty so I called SquareTrade to discuss my problem. I was ready for the usual run around which I was sure would result in a statement about it not being covered. That was not the case at all. I spoke with a very polite lady who asked me a few questions and within 5 minutes they said they would reimburse me for my full purchase price. AND THEY DID!!!! What a surprise. A company that actually did what they said they would without any hassle or a hundred hoops to jump through. I just insured my new external drive with them and I will continue to insure anything I can with them. They stand behind their word and have an excellent price. Thank you SquareTrade.

    5-0 out of 5 stars Don't leave without it!!, April 10, 2009
I'm now at the point where I purchase a Square Trade Warranty with anything I buy of value. How many times has something broken on you the week AFTER the warranty expired? Getting years of coverage on any expensive product you buy is important. The prices they offer are almost half of what the retail chain's will offer you. Sometimes even covering it for a longer period of time too! I also like how easy they make it to transfer your warranties in case you sell your gadgets. Another great feature is having all your warranties in one location. Makes it much easier to track and find later. Protect your stuff with Square Trade every chance you get.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good deal but needs better communications, February 2, 2010
When I purchased a GPS unit on a popular auction site a year and a half ago the seller included a 3 year Square Trade warranty for an extra $10. Knowing the conditions a GPS has to work under, extreme temperatures, vibration, etc. that sounded like a good deal to me, so I paid the extra cost and got the warranty.

This past December the GPS unit started giving me problems, then finally died altogether, simply giving the GPS version of the BSOD. At that point I had completely forgotten about the warranty and just went out and bought a new GPS. Then the GPS in my other vehicle also died, and that one was only 2 months old, so I contacted the manufacturer to get it replaced under warranty, which made me remember the Square Trade warranty I'd purchased on the first unit.

I contacted Square Trade via my account on their web site and filed a claim for the original GPS unit that had failed. I received a message back from them within 48 hours, detailing a procedure for doing a factory reset on the unit, but no other instructions, and the procedure for doing the factory reset that was given was for a different model by the same company, and required holding down a button that didn't exist on my unit. The only option for contacting Square Trade about this was a telephone number.

I didn't realize I could also respond to the email (that part of the message got cut off somehow) and, seeing as I'm a disabled vet with a 60% hearing loss, telephones and I don't get along too well, so I figured I was out of options and just forgot about the claim.

A few days later I got a new email from Square Trade, inquiring about my claim and I was able to respond to that one and explain that the reset procedure didn't apply to my unit and that I'd already replaced it with a new unit.

The new customer service rep I was dealing with then encouraged me to send the old unit in anyway, and provided a shipping label for it.

Four days later I got a full refund for the full purchase price of the unit.

I'm pleased that Square Trade went the extra step of contacting me again after that initial email, and quite pleased with my refund. I give them top marks for that, but they do lose a couple of stars for poor communications, for that reset procedure email. If they take steps in the future to correct this problem I'd have no qualms about giving them top marks across the board.

5-0 out of 5 stars I buy SquareTrade warranties for all of my electronics now, May 5, 2009
My first SquareTrade warranty came from purchasing a refurbed XBox 360 on eBay. 6 months later my unit died on me. SquareTrade sent me a box with prepaid shipping label and after determining "multiple points of failure" SquareTrade cut me a check for the amount I paid for the unit originally. I've purchased warranties for my camera with accident coverage as well as laptop and wireless headphones. Their warranties are much less than those offered by the manufacturers or retailers. Check for yourselves! Their service is great for any purchase but especially great if you decide to get a refurbed device/unit that come with shorter warranties. 3 years with accidental coverage is pretty comforting if you can't just up and buy another iPod, phone, camera or laptop if you drop 'em.

I've been happy with their service/turnaround, their pricing, and their online account management. I would highly recommend SquareTrade for peace-of-mind!

5-0 out of 5 stars You can't get any better than this!, May 10, 2009
I have been using Squaretrade for a few years now. I have happily recommended it to my family and friends and they are all very satisfied with the level of customer service and consideration that they get. I cannot tell you how easy it is to file a claim and how helpful the representatives are. Truly, there have been absolutely no hassles when filing a claim or talking to the reps. I give them 5 LARGE stars because they mean what they say. Go Squaretrade... you can't go wrong with these guys!

    5-0 out of 5 stars Spuartrade fixed my PS3, July 2, 2009
They did everything they advertised they would. My PS3 power died and it wasn't just a simple replace of power cord. They sent me the box, paid for the shipping to and from their claims department and had my PS3 back and in working condition in about a week. Not bad at all.

1-0 out of 5 stars Unable to reach customer service on the phone so I canceled the policy., February 8, 2010
I ordered a Garmin GPS for a birthday gift for a friend. Getting a warranty seemed like a good idea. I wanted to ask someone at "SquareTrade" about getting the name changed on the policy to the person receiving the gift (rather than mine, since I ordered the gift). I called their number no less than 5 times at different times of the weekday. On ALL occasions I ended up getting hung up on by their little phone computer system. If this is how they treat people before they have an issue, I can't imagine how it would be to file a real claim.

I submitted an email request (via the Amazon system) requesting to cancel the policy and a refund, which was honored (which would be the only good thing I have to say).

3-0 out of 5 stars Contradictions, and YOU, the buyer, lose!, July 13, 2010
(Please note update below. I have changed my rating.)

Their web site says: Contact us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
    Call us at 1.877.WARRANTY (1.877.927.7268)
The phone says: "Call during regular business hours." Since I don't know what time zone they are located in, I cannot know what RBH are.

Their Product description says: "Return postage both ways."
Their contract reads that I must pay the postage.

I am surprised that Amazon, a company with which I have had good experience, deals with this nonsense.

"Top rated" by whom? The few who do have a problem with the product? Why have a problem from the beginning?

Amazon, please explore this seller better!

    UPDATE:
I have received an email from a supervisor admitting the errors in marketing messages, an apology, and an email correction that shipping will be paid by the company in the event of product problems (and a 30% discount on a future purchase of a warranty). My suggestion is to check that your contract matches the marketing claims of the company, as all of us should do with any purchase. I feel the company did correct its mistakes, but seems to have internal communication confusion.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Company to Work With, July 10, 2010
I recently purchased a second GPS (Garmin 265wt), and, because I've been so impressed with SquareTrade in the past, clicked on the SquareTrade link to purchase insurance for this unit also. I have never had to actually use one of these policies, but the company seems very professional, and the policies are reasonably priced.

I would like to offer a general 'heads up' - when I clicked on the warranty link on the GPS page, I had no idea it was for electronics items less than $ 50. I thought that the right policy value would be automatically linked. Later, when reading the warranty summary that I received by email from SquareTrade, I noted that it had the wrong value. I contacted Amazon, who referred me to SquareTrade. SquareTrade was excellent, and gave me clear directions for cancelling the first (less than $ 50) warranty and purchasing a replacement. SquareTrade indicated that there are sometimes 'linking' problems on the Amazon side, and you may get the wrong warranty. Be sure to look at your warranty summary when you get it. You only have 60 days to cancel a warranty without prorating kicking in.

In any case, I am very pleased with SquareTrade to date (again, I haven't had to file a claim).

Also, I think that Amazon was very responsive.

I have a warranty for my dehumidifier, my kid's dsi, and my new i-pod too! They sent me a free protector case for my ipod. I love this company.

5-0 out of 5 stars Car Amplifier warranty - Great results, October 30, 2009
Purchased this warranty for a new amp i bought from an eBay dealer. When I first received the amp, it was defective. Square trade responded and within days i had a replacement. Just over one year later, the amplifier shorted out again and caught on fire. I filed a claim to Square trade. They paid to have the amp shipped to them for inspection and within 1 day of receiving the amp they refunded my full purchase price. Very fast service. I will definitely use them for future warranties. Great Experience.

My experiences with square trade have been subperb!they did everything they advertised just as advertised with no headaches, no waiting and in the end replaced the unit without question! Normally I would be against buying any type of service contract, or extended warranty but after the experience with my GPS I swear by Squaretrade. I have now covered all of my new electronics. 5-0 out of 5 stars Accidental Damge coverage saves the day!, July 20, 2010
Almost a year ago I purchased an Asus netbook and at the time I decided to take advantage of SquareTrade's 3 year warranty with accidental damage coverage. I was more concerned at the time with the atom processor possibly malfunctioning or a hard drive crashing than anything else. I had owned laptops for many years and never had an accident. This time was different. While attending a picnic for my local Linux Users Group , I had the misfortune of knocking the netbook (in its case) off of the picnic table. The short fall cracked the screen and I was sure that I was out a netbook and had not been planning to purchase any new computers for at least 2 more years. I remembered that I had purchased the SquareTrade warranty and when I checked it did have the accidental damage coverage. It only took minutes to file a claim on line and they e-mailed the shipping label and off it went to SquareTrade. No hassles at anytime in the process and I have a check from them for the original amount of my purchase and have replaced my netbook and I am extremely pleased with the whole experience.SquareTrade 3-Year Electronics Warranty Plus Accident Protection (Electronics $250-300)

I had purchased a warranty through SquareTrade on a GPS system after recieving an email and looking at the website. Unfortunately, we had some problems with the GPS system so I called SquareTrade. The whole process was so smooth and I loved the fact that every step of the way was followed up by an email explaining everything. Everyone there was so nice and helpful. We did end up having to replace the GPS system, so they sent a check for a full refund to me. Not to mention the money I saved not using the store warranties. I will definitely purchase all warranties that I can through SquareTrade.

    5-0 out of 5 stars SquareTrade covers Microsoft's problem-prone product, September 17, 2010
I have been pleased with my SquareTrade warranty on my XBOX 360 Elite. I had to have my XBOX repaired once after buying it, so before the original warranty expired and because I had already had problems, I purchased an extended warranty from SquareTrade. I'm sure glad that I did! A couple of months later I encountered the RROD (Red Ring Of Death; stats say that this happens to 40% of XBOX 360 consoles). I contacted SquareTrade and they said I needed to send them a copy of the purchase receipt for my game console (which I recommend doing right after purchasing a warranty for those that are not organized). They confirmed that they had received the receipt and then I had to send them the console and accessories for them to confirm the problem. A week or so later I received a check for the full original purchase price of my game console. This would have been hundreds of dollars down the drain without the SquareTrade warranty. They proved their worth to me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Square Trade Warranty Company, February 18, 2010
Square Trade Warranty company is absolutely FABULOUS!! I purchased a GPS one year ago and unfortunately the audio was very quiet, so much so that when going down the freeway you had to strain to hear it. Now mind you, I had this GPS for just short of a year and then remembered that I had purchased a warranty for it...I contacted Square Trade and the gentleman was so very courteous, kind, understanding, I actually felt like I was talking to a friend. I sent them the GPS as requested(Square Trade even paid for shipping) and within 2 weeks I had EVERY cent I had spent for the GPS REFUNDED to me. You cannot get better than that!! Thanks so very much Square Trade.

5-0 out of 5 stars SquareTrade Warranty Program, January 27, 2010
I have purchased all types of products and sometimes I would like a longer warranty. For example I purchased a fairly expensive razor and I went looking on Amazon to see if they had an extended warranty. After the regular warranty is up the extended warranty will kick in. That is only partly true since many warranties vary as to the level of service. I have used SquareTrade Warranties before with other products and could not find one for the razor. I then looked up SquareTrade on the internet and spoke with someone very personable that told me I could get a SquareTrade Warranty for my razor and I can call anytime 24 hours a day 7 days a week at 1-877-WARRANTY. After I purchase the item I have 90 days to get the warranty. The cost of the warranty varies as to the cost of the product and length of warranty. SquareTrade sent me a link to my email that sent me to Amazon purchasing the warranty I needed. SquareTrade also stated that the buyer can contact them after and they will put all the information in their system and when the warranty is needed the buyer will not need any paperwork. If the product is purchased through Amazon you only need the order number. The only downfall for this service is that SquareTrade does not replace the product if after you call their claims department to fix the item and it cannot be fixed. They will reimburse you if the item is fixed and if not they will reimburse what you paid for the product. I must tell you that I have not had to use the warranty service even though I have many SquareTrade Warranties. I can only tell you what is written and when I called to write this review what SquareTrade told me they do involving claims. I hope this helps a little. Always read the fine print.

3-0 out of 5 stars Buyer (still) beware, July 1, 2010
I purchased a warranty on Panasonic HP 55 noise canceling headphones purchased for my son. Initially liked the phones so much I bought a second pair for myself. Both stopped working at about 6 months. Tried to get warranty coverage online , but received an e mail answer stating ' accidental damage not covered". I never said there was an accident. I placed a call to Square Trade ( 10 min on hold) and was told the item was under manufacturer warranty. Panasonic denied this after 10 minutes on hold. A SECOND CALL to Square Trade (12 mins on hold) said mail the product to them (they sent a shipping label though I am not sure they pay for shipping) and I got a promise of a refund. After 32 minutes on hold I believe I will get my $ back ( about $40 minus the shipping) but am not 100% sure. Buyer beware- be persistent.

PROTECT YOUR PURCHASES! The worst thing when buying something expensive is when it dies right after the manufacturer's warranty. Buy warranties that last much longer with SquareTrade. I purchased this warranty for my Playstation 3 Slim after my previous Playstation 3 80GB with only one year of coverage died on me.

4-0 out of 5 stars SquareTrade Review, July 15, 2010
I have recently purchased a 3-year extended warranty from SquareTrade. The confirming response and communication has been great. I have been easily able to update information regarding my purchase online. I have not had a need to use this service, so I cannot currently comment as to the company's response to a product / warranty problem. ... Read more

    5-0 out of 5 stars Squaretrade, August 27, 2009
Squaretrade is awesome. It is much cheaper than retail and department stores. I buy my warranties for everything from them from watches to washers and dryers. Just recently i called them to set up a claim to fix the color of my plasma tv......and they tried to fix it but when i was not satisfied they sent me my full purchase price.

    thanks Square Trade!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Squaretrade is as good as their word! (don't throw away your receipt), April 6, 2009
I purchased a 42" flat screen tv a few years ago, and was naturally concerned about what to do after the 1 year manufacturer's warranty had expired. The store offered its own extended warranty program, but I was hesitant about putting down hundreds of dollars for a 3 year extended warranty. Surely there was something more economical with the same, or better service?

I heard, via word of mouth, of a third-party alternative called Squaretrade. Intrigued, I checked reseller ratings, and was very shocked to see a lifetime rating of 9.7. I read many of the reviews, and they all consistently praised ST's dedication to fulfilling its warranty promises. Of the few that were not pleased with ST service (and some of them were the customer's fault), I was impressed by the follow-up messages left by ST's representatives to resolve the situation.

Convinced, I ended up purchasing a 3 year warranty through Squaretrade, for just ~$40. ST runs monthly %-off discounts, so you can always get a very good bargain. To clarify, if I remember correctly, the 3 year warranty is really a 2 year warranty, since the first year overlaps with the first year of the manufacturer's warranty. However, you should read the fine print to double check.

Talk about knocking on wood. My TV broke recently, and so I submitted my claim form to ST, which primarily comprised faxing a copy of my receipt to them (don't throw it away!), and describing my problem. I was expecting a reply a few months later, but Squaretrade promises resolution in less than week. I was shocked to find in my email inbox, a message from ST indicating that since it was cost prohibitive to ship my TV back to them for repairs, they would instead be refunding my original purchase price in its entirety, through PayPal. Sure enough, the money was sent the next day.

This is legendary service, the kind consumers dream about. You can buy a ST warranty with complete confidence, and be assured of their guarantees. Regarding TVs, they will not cover certain issues, e.g. burn-in on a plasma, and lamp replacements on DLPs. Again, check the fine print (don't worry, there's not too much to read).

I'm going to be buying all my warranties through ST in the future, recommending them to my friends and families, and making sure my children, and my children's children buy Squaretrade warranties. I wholeheartedly recommend them (and no, I'm not getting paid by ST to write this review).

5-0 out of 5 stars Square Trade ROCKS!, March 9, 2010
I have never had a better experience with a warranty or a warranty company. I submitted my claim online and got a call from the Square Trade rep within 24 hours. He had downloaded the manual for my 47" Phillips LCD television and researched my problem. He gave me some suggestions that I tried when I got home. None of the solutions solved the problem so I called Square Trade later that day and explained the situation. The rep put me on hold for a couple of minutes and when he got back on the phone, told me that I would be getting a refund for the total amount I had paid for the TV. I was absolutely speechless! I expected I'd be taking the TV to a repair shop and possibly being reimbursed for the cost of the repair but even that can be a hassle with most warranties. The rep emailed an affidavit that I printed, signed, scanned and sent back to them and within 3 days my refund was in my PayPal account. I am still in awe with the ease of the transaction and the professionalism of the company and it's representatives. I have told anyone who will listen about this completely positive experience and will definitely continue to purchase all my warranties through Square Trade. This is an AWESOME company with AWESOME service.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent deal, March 2, 2010
I bought this when I bought the used TV. The TV went out within two months and Squaretrade was extremely quick in reimbursing my original purchase price. They even paid to ship it to them.

4-0 out of 5 stars sounds good, February 3, 2010
Although I have not had to use the warrenty, it sounded like a good deal. after reading comments by others who did need to use it, they all were very satisfied with it. everything I bought from amazon, I have been happy with.

    4-0 out of 5 stars Squaretrade, January 11, 2010
I haven't purchased a Squaretrade Warranty yet. However I'm planning on getting two as soon as my two new LCDs get closer to the manufacture's warranty expiration date, so I can have the three full years of extended coverage. The reason for giving 4 out of 5 stars in this review is because this warranty is establishing their prices based on the TV purchase price rather than model number or other specific feature. That doesn't makes much sense whatsoever because the TV prices decay as musch as Cars. Instead I've seen in other electronics extended warranties that they based their prices depending on model number or size in the case of a TV. An LCD that worth $1,500 today is not going to cost the same in three years from now, by then it may worth $100. Where is the difference return from the extended warranty? I'm sure they keep their word about their service aggreement, and being sold at the Amazon the credibility should be even higher. So far, I'll make my purchase from "squaretrade" as time get closer to my TV mfg warranty expiration, but I'm going to keep searching for other extended services out there in the World Wide Web just to gather more information and make myself a little bit smarter. Of course, I'm not wasting money on more extended warranty, but I'm curious to learn how they operate. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars So far, so good ..., February 19, 2010
I ordered the Mitsubishi WD-73C9, and a different warranty (provided by the same company) at the same time in November of 2009. I checked Amazon's website in December just to see if the product I originally purchased was still the same price. It just so happened to be cheaper (or so I thought).

I emailed SQUARETRADE asking to be refunded the difference. I immediately put the situation to the back of my mind, expecting a reply about a month later. To my surprise, a rep replied within the next business day.

The rep courteously advised me to cancel the first warranty I had in the system (which is VERY easily done by going to their website), and then place a new order for the correct warranty product. And the rep assured me that I would receive a FULL MONEY REFUND for the incorrectly purchased product after the cancellation. And the rep also said that since I've already emailed a copy of the receipt, of the television I purchased from Amazon, that I would not have to go through that process again.

So I did all of those things. And everything happened just the way the SQUARETRADE rep said it would. I recevied a FULL MONEY REFUND from the incorrectly purchased warranty product; placed a new order for the correct product; received confirmation for all of those previously stated transactions; and when I checked my account on SQUARETRADE's website, it shows that my receipt, for the television, has been appropriately associated.

Customer service is, so far, excellent! Let's hope I'll never have to use the warranty, but it is a peace of mind.

3-0 out of 5 stars Three Year warranty? Actually, Two Year 347 Day warranty!, July 21, 2010
I ordered a nice Panasonic 58" plasma TV on June 18, 2010. Purchased this warranty (fair price) for some additional protection on the purchase at the same time. The TV was delivered to me on June 30 (READ THAT REVIEW) and I was surprised to realize that my purchased coverage started on the day I ordered the TV rather than when it actually went into service in my home.
Looks like someone got a 12 day discount and it wasn't me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Warranty, June 3, 2009
I have purchased a few Square Trade warranties and have been completely satisfied. Their prices are a lot less than most I have seen. You can transfer warranties from one product to another, which is great if you upgrade something. Staff is very friendly and competent. My claims have been completed within 2 weeks after filing, full reimbursement, no questions asked. I would recommend them to anyone looking to purchase an extended warranty.

5-0 out of 5 stars SquareTrade is awesome!!!, April 29, 2010
I purchased a refurb'ed 42" LCD TV online and figured it'd probably be wise to get an extended warranty plan after spending over $500. Well, 8 months after buying the TV my HDMI's stopped working--all four ports. I was still able to get HD via the component input, but wanted to see if I could have the TV repaired anyway. I called SquareTrade and was told that because the TV was discontinued it wouldn't be cost effective to repair it or to send it back, so I was refunded my purchase price and allowed to keep the TV! How awesome is that! Rarely have I encountered customer service like this--and their reps are all super friendly to top it off! People, it's simple--if you're spending your hard-earned money, pay a little extra for piece-of-mind. Forget about manufacturer or retailer extended warranties--they're a total rip-off compared to these guys. I will definitely be doing business with this company again!
