I almost bought the store warranty instead of Squaretrade's because I did not know they existed!
In April, I purchased an "Apple Ipod 8gb Touch" to give to my little sister for her birthday. When I was at the biggest electronics store here where I live(Best Buy), I was hesitant to buy this because I know my sister to be careless and risky at times. I nearly bought the $50 2-year store warranty UNTIL my younger brother happened to call me to tell me something. Well I told him of my whereabouts and my business and it was at that moment that I learned about Squaretrade. He informed me NOT to buy the store warranty and educated me about Squaretrade. He had a good experience with Squaretrade for his Xbox. I purchased the warranty directly from [...] and paid with Paypal.

Ok, I have already had to use the warranty. I was right about my sister being careless in this sitution. Last month, there was a drink spilled on the darn thing and now the oh-so popular item is useless! When I contacted them, Squaretrade emailed me the free return shipping label and I sent the worthless thing back. Within 5 days I had a reimbursement of the Ipod in my Paypal account. Good to go...my sister went and bought another brand of mp3 player.

I have purchased the extra insurance on several other items in the past. On my cell it was $4.00 per month with ATT and with Square Trade I got 3 years for less then what it cost with ATT. I did the same with a camera I purchased and it worked out the same.

My story is short and sweet. I recently bought a Kindle 3G+wifi and I loved it! But I read some reviews on amazon saying the screen was fragile, I also read on some Kindle forums about people who had accidentally sat on their Kindle but had a warranty with Squaretrade.

So I made myself a cover, and just to be safe I got myself an extended warranty from Suaretrade to cover anything bad that might happen.

Well I am an absolute klutz, and didn't have the cover on one day with the Kindle in my pocket... and as I'm moving around in my chair I hear a popping sound. It was the Kindle's screen breaking. So I checked with Amazon first, and was pretty sure their warranty wouldn't cover the screen accidentally breaking (sure enough it didn't). So I filed my claim with Squaretrade, they sent me a shipping label and I shipped it to them in the same box it had come in.

After some problems with UPS they received it and pretty soon they reimbursed me for the Kindle, and since I took it in the form of an Amazon gift card they even threw in an extra 5%, enough to get a Kindle book!

and besides that they were very friendly on the phone, they picked up the phone very promptly and I wasn't left on hold (having dealt with a few banks lately, I could tell you a thing or two about waiting on hold to talk to a live person!). They were patient with me and answered all my questions. They seemed to really value and appreciate my business.

I am exceptionally happy with their service and I recommend a squaretrade warranty if you are in the market for an extended warranty, or are a big klutz like me and you break things!

I've had multiple iPhones and a standalone GPS covered through squaretrade. Recently my GPS fell in a puddle and as a result completely died. I filed a claim with squaretrade, sent them all the information and in just a few days my claim was approved for the full purchase amount. I would highly recommend getting their warranty as it not only covers manufacturing defects but you can also get it with accidental damage coverage.

Simply the best warranty money can buy. No other company offers spill and drop protection on ereaders and those expensive Iphones. I carry warranties on all of our Iphones and our 3 Kindles. When you do have a claim, service is prompt and courteous. USE THEM !!!

I had questions about coverage on a REFURBISHED Kindle2 from Amazon Warehouse Deals. I emailed them questions BEFORE I purchased the Kindle2. Having read MANY Kindle2 reviews it seemed very important to have an extended warranty. Many reviewers mentioned SQUARETRADE for the coverage and the value. When all my questions were answered I purchased BOTH the Kindle2 AND the SquareTrade warranty.

I give Square Trade extended warranties a resounding five stars.....HOWEVER - you can save lots of money by going directly to their website and getting your warranty there. You can get the same 3 year extended warranty with accident protection for new items, but there are always coupons floating out on the 'net (google square trade coupons)...which can save you between 20-40%. I was able to get this item directly from Square Trade for $38 and change for an IPod Touch screen. Amazon charges $[...] which is the normal price, but you cannot use the 20-40% off coupons on here. Save a few bucks - buy your item from Amazon, and then go to [...] and buy your extended warranty separately.

I don't know how anyone could create a better product. Not only is the price far more competitive than any similar warranty service, when i actually had a claim the speed of approving and fulfilling it was outstanding. Within a day of submitting my claim I was given a prepaid label to ship the item to them. Within one day of receiving it they approved the claim and within three more days I was granted a payment directly to my paypal account. With this kind of service I don't know how competitors are going to stay in the market.

Purchased a 3 Year MP3 w/Accident Protection on my son's iPod touch. My son dropped his iTouch and it cracked the LCD screen he was sooo upset. My husband is accident prone and I knew if I didn't buy the extra accident protection for his new Zune, I would regret it. After two months, the Zune went through the wash and was completely ruined. I was able to file the claim completely online, print out the label, and stick it in the UPS box. In 7 days from the night I filed the claim online, I had the full purchase price of the Zune back in my Paypal account.

The price is excellent. Google Squaretrade coupon codes and you will get an extra discount on the already great price. I paid $40 for the first warranty an was sent a 50% off coupon code to use on my next purchase. Luckily, I hadn't deleted it yet and was able to use the 50% off coupon code on the warranty for the next Zune.

I like a warranty that is completely hassle-free. I can't say that about our laptop's warranty, which breaks usually every other month and is a nightmare to get it fixed. I didn't have to call anyone, sit on hold forever, or wait a month to get my money back. Filing online is easy and they send you emails at every step of the process to let you know what's going on.

I bought an iPod Touch in January 2009. I happened to run accross this square trade warranty by chance and decided to give it a try. Then, I found out they cover accidental damages including spills and drops. I had hoped to god that I never had to use the warranty because I actually really liked my iPod and I didn't want the hassle of getting a new one if something happened to it. Fast forward to 18 months later, my iPod got drenched in a downpour and I was devasted. It barely turned on and would randomly shut off whenever it felt like it. I contacted square trade, within a day or two I had a pre-paid shipping box. I shipped the iPod to them so that they could verify the problem and determine if it was salvagable. SquareTrade deemed the iPod dead and nearly instantly put what I paid for the iPod into my Paypal account. Talk about impressive! I bought a Kodak M1033 digital camera on eBay and decided it would be a good idea to take a warranty on it thru Square Trade as I use the camera for my eBay auctions to attach pictures. I bought this camera about 8 months ago. I have another couple of warranties with Square Trade and haven't had to use any of them until now. As with most electronics, they sometimes break or start going bad after a short while so a warranty is a good idea, especially when you buy an item on eBay that doesn't have a warranty. I contacted Square Trade about my dead camera and they recommended I send it back to them so their Product Specialists could confirm what I told them what was wrong with my camera. After receiving my camera they assessed it and confirmed the camera had a faulty internal problem. An email was sent to me from Square Trade stating they had finished assessing my claim and that I was eligible for a full payout. They sent 100% of my money to my PayPal account (within 24 hours) that I paid for my camera. After receiving my money I went back to eBay and bought another brand new Kodak M1033 camera. It hasn't arrived yet but when it does I will surely take another warranty thru Square Trade. The warranties from Square Trade are very reasonable and are better and cheaper than you can get at a retail outlet. I highly recommend Square Trade for all your warranty needs. They are a top shelve company with a no hassle commitment to their customers. I have nothing but praise for the Square Trade team.

Not pleased with square trade warranties. I bought one for a dvd player for my car and when it went bad the seller didn't want to fix it and square trade said sorry it was too close to the purchase date so fight it out with the seller! Neither one would fix it so I was out the money on the tv and the money on the warranty. I will never purchase another square trade warranty again. Besides, if I buy on ebay they have their own buyer protection program that is free now.

It's really hard to know (a gamble really) if you will need this or not. You actually have to weigh the price of the item against the warranty. In this case, because I purchased a refurbished unit, I am still ahead of the game pricewise should the unit malfunction within the next three years.

I was in the market for new camera to video my little new born. I was looking for something small, that would envade her privacy. I was caught between the Kodak Playsport and the Flip camera. I went with the Kodak and couldn't be more happier with it, the video and picture quality are great and I like having my memory stored externally. Haven't been able to check it under water yet. Unfortunately I've come across a malfunction 2 weeks in. When I go to record, whether in VGA or 1080 I lose functions to all buttons and the only way to stop recording is to take out the battery losing what ever footage that was being recorded. This only happens sometimes and when its does its usually when she's doing something cute...bummer. I'm in the process of trying to exchange it because I really enjoy the camera but now I'm haveing issues with that...x2 bummer

This has got to be one of the greatest companies out there. A friend turned me on to Square Trade, so since the warranties were so low in price, I started buying them for every new electronic toy I bought, mainly so I could sleep better at night knowing that just in case, I would be covered. It just so happens, last month I had to make a claim for a portable DVD player that stopped working just 1 month after the manufacturer warranty had ended. I called Square Trade and had them walk me through making the claim on line. Then, they emailed me a pre-paid UPS return label to send back the DVD player, then after they rec'd it on their end & determined it was indeed dead, I had the WHOLE ammount I paid for the player sent to my Paypal account within 4-5 days!

I have warranties through them from my $70 fax machine, all the way up to my $1,500 HDTV. Plus, you can usually find coupon codes for 20%-30% off the price of the warranty most of the time, which makes it even sweeter a deal.

Also, I have to say how awesome their customer service is. They are very knolegable & professional on the phone, and they answer their emails extremely promptly. To me, customer service is everthing knowadays, and Square Trade exceeds all my expectations.

I had purchased a warranty for an amplifier that was bought on eBay. The cost of the warranty was $28. 1-1/2 years later the amp went out. I followed the simple claims process on their web site and in less than 5 business days they paid out to me the original purchase price of the amp. I was extremely glad I purchased the warranty. If not I would have been looking at a minimum of $80 to repair the amp. Now I am able to purchase something new.

I am one extremely happy customer, so much that the next amp will have a SquareTrade warranty on it as well.

Remember to keep a receipt of whatever you purchase because they will need it if you ever have to file a claim. So simply scan it to your computer and email it to them. That's all there is to it.

The first time I bought a SquareTrade extended warranty, I was skeptical. The price was considerably lower than the alternatives, so I wondered what would happen if I really needed them.

The bad news was that I DID need them. The good news is that they did exactly what the warranty implied, and quickly reimbursed my full purchase price. No fuss, no muss.

I have bought, or been the impetus to someone else buying, dozens of their warranties for a variety of product types since then. There have been three other needs to "cash in," and they have honored each one quickly, professionally, and without hesitation.

Moreover, call them; speak to a live person; get helpful, valid information on the best options for each particular circumstance. This outfit is really a "find." I hope they are successful...I want them to be around for a long time!

Best decision I ever made!, June 3, 2009
I purchased a refurbished PS3 on EBay because I wanted the 60gB model that is no longer being produced. I'd never purchased an extended warranty before, but decided to do so because it was a refurb. I am SO glad I did!

Unfortunately, the product failed about 5 months after purchase - it stopped reading games. This was a personal tragedy for my 11 year old, who LOVES his PS3. I contacted Square Trade and received an immediate answer, suggesting I first try a firmware update at home. When that didn't work, I emailed back and received a reply that a postage prepaid box wss being shipped to my home. I shipped the defective unit to their repair center and received a repaired unit in a couple of weeks. I received emails from Square Trade when the item was received, repaired, and shipped back, and I could check the status on their web site at any time as well.

The process could not have been any easier or more efficient. It was a huge relief for me to know that my expensive purchase was not going to become a doorstop (or incur huge repair costs elsewhere.) I would HIGHLY recommend this company for warranty service, especially if you are purchasing a refubished item. It's so rare to find really good customer service these days - I can't say enough about how pleased I am!

I can't say enough about square trade warranties, but can tell you it's great that you can buy them direct on amazon.com now instead of having to go to thier website after your purchase. A couple of years ago I bought a warranty from square trade on an ebay item I purchased and 5 months later It broke. I called square trade and they told me to send it back,they paid postage, and quickly sent me a check for the full amount I paid. No questions asked. And no hassles. Folks you realy can't beat them when it comes to service. This last Christmas I bought a new 46" flat panel tv, hidef dvd recorder, and cordless phones. And I bought the warranties from square trade without batting an eye. Three year warranties where a third of what my friends paid for thiers at best buy, circuit city, ultimate,and Amercas... I Highly recommend purchasing a warranty from Square Trade! I had purchased an xbox 360 off ebay and had it about 2 mths until I started having problems with it when I contacted square trade the represenative was very nice and helpful. He emailed me a pre-paid postage stamp and I sent the xbox 360 and it only took a couple of days before they sent sent me the money to my paypal account...They are excellent!!! I will absolutely recommend Square Trade!!!

I bought an X Box 360 Elite back in January of this year. The seller had a great price on the product, so I made the purchase. The same day I got an email from SquareTrade regarding the X Box Elite, offering a two year warranty plan for $40 some odd dollars. It was cheaper then the other warranties I had researched and covered the same things if not more. One of my better investments I must say. In April my Elite started to give me the Ring of Death, much to my surprise. I contacted the seller and X Box customer support to find that I was basically on my own. Like I said one of my better investments was in the SquarTrade warranty. I made my claim on April 22nd and with one call had a claim # and prepaid shipping label for my console. I took my sweet time sending it to them because I was being lazy, but on May 9th I sent the console. On May 12th they received it and on May 13th my claim was approved. These guys are great and will actually do what there warranties are provided for. No hassle or B.S. just fast service and competent help. I purchased a Playstation 3 off of Ebay a few months ago and had to basically convince myself to buy a warranty. Boy, am I glad i did! Three months after i received my console, it went out. Luckily, it was covered by squaretrade. I had to pay Sony upfront for the repairs but as soon as i faxed the work order to squaretrade, they reimbursed my money within two working days. I am very glad i purchased this from them. It was cheap AND a great deal. Thanks Squares!

Absolutely a no brainer here. My HP Printer died on day 364 of the 1 year HP Manufacturer warranty. I fought w/HP throughout process, and they stated that my Warranty had expired 75 days prior--impossible, as I had the Amazon receipt to prove it. Tech could not fix it, and said it would be 7-14 days before someone could get back to me to inquire/fix the warranty issue. Of course, it would have been at least another week once I got the repair set up and complete. I called SquareTrade, who held an extended Warranty on the priner, and in less than 5 minutes, the rep told me he would make the claim and approve it once he got my receipt. I sent the receipt, received an affadavit to sign, and 3 days later...a new Amazon Gift Card Plus 5%. 5 days later I am still waiting for HP to call me, and I'll have my new printer next week--and purchased another SqT warranty!!!

I've bought multiple Square Trade warranties over the past few years. I've had to make claims on two items. One was for an mp3 player several years ago: it was malfunctioning so I mailed it in, couldn't be fixed, so I received a check refunding the full purchase price within days! My second experience with a claim was just last week when I dropped my iPhone in the toilet...fortunately I had purchased a SquareTrade warranty as Apple does not cover water damage. I filed a claim, received a package in the mail for me to send my phone in for repair (they covered all shipping charges--class act), and today it was UPS'ed back to me in perfect working condition. Voila! Why they're the best:

*I love that you can purchase warranties through them regardless of where you bought the item.
*They interact in the most professional manner.
*They always make good on honoring claims.

Getting a Square Trade Warranty was the best decision I made. I bought my son an xbox system on ebay and it broke about 10 months later. SquareTrade sent me a postage-paid label and I sent back the broken xbox. They sent me a refund directly to my paypal account within a week. No hassles, no worries. They e-mail you every step of the way with where you are in your return, i.e., they let you know when your package is picked up by UPS, they let you know when the package was received, they let you know the item is being looked at, they let you know that the refund is on it's way to you. I would definitely recommend a Square Trade Warranty.

I just bought the 120g ps3 and decided to get the 3 year warranty with it. I totally recomend it especially with these gaming systems. I had the 80g ps3 and it died on me in April of 2010. I bought it in June of 07. Had I had the 3 year warranty I would have been safe. If you are deciding whether to get it or not. JUST GET IT. PEACE OF MIND.

My daughter took her iPod touch to school in her backpack and a friend threw her backpack, breaking the iPod screen. The iPod also would no longer turn on. Thankfully I had an ADH warranty on it. This was my first claim to make with SquareTrade so, even though I had heard great things about them I was worried they would deny my claim. After only a few questions and a day they approved my claim. I sent the iPod in and they put the difference from the deductible into my paypal account.

I also have ADH on 2 iPhones, my other daughter's iPod, and my plasma TV. For items that can break easily or that you want to last longer than the manufacturer's warranty I can't imagine a better investment.

I bought a Square Trade Warranty for a MP3/MP4 Video Player that I purchased on e-bay. The MP3/MP4 Player stopped working within a month. I called Square Trade and reported that the unit wasn't working. I was instructed to send the unit in to be evaluated and it would either be repaired or my money refunded that I paid for the MP3/MP4 Player. Square Trade could not repair the unit and the purchase price of the MP3/MP4 Player was refunded back to my Paypal account. I highly recommend Square Trade. They definitely give you the protection that they advertise.

I bought this warranty on a refurbished item with no manufacturers warranty left. I had my doubts, especially at the price, figuring it would turn into a complicated or annoying pain if I ever needed it. I was very wrong. By telling them the truth of when the incident occurred, I was denied. They only cover the ipod for incidents occuring after 30 days. BOGUS!!!

I bought an Ipod Nano for my granddaughter for Christmas,2008. I insured it with Squaretrade after I read about them on the internet. I couldn't believe how inexpensive it was compared to others . This year the Ipod started to act up and it had gone past the original waranty. I called Squaretrade and they sent me a mailer to send it in to them. This whole process took four days and I recieved a reimbursement for the original price. AMAZING !!!

I have insured four more products and will continue to use Squaretrade FOREVER.

I purchased the square trade warranty for my PSP due to the fact I had trouble with the first one I bought. It had a warranty through Sears and that warranty sucked!!! I again had trouble with the new PSP but the warranty through square trade was wonderful. It was so easy to return the product to them and get a refund for the entire price of the PSP. When it was all said and done I had my refund in 2 weeks with not a bit of hastle. I could not have been happier with their customer service and with the entire process really. I will definately purchase the square trade warranty again when I buy a new PSP. I already have 4 other products that I have purchased the square trade warranty for. They are the most reasonably priced warranty out there with the best service. Take my advice and buy their warranty for everything you purchase that needs a warranty. I purchased a SquareTrade warranty for my Kindle, after the timeframe had expired on getting the Amazon warranty. The warranty included coverage for drops, which was not covered in the other options I looked into. Just under a year after I got my Kindle, it slipped out of my hands on my way outside and the screen cracked! Immediately I went online and looked into the warranty information and submitted my receipt. I quickly received a confirmation that my full purchase price would be reimbursed and a pre-paid shipping label. I opted for a Amazon gift certificate and got an extra 5% back, which appeared in my account less than a week after I sent in my broken Kindle. I now have a brand new Kindle 3 (upgraded from my Kindle 2) and extra money in my Amazon account for future purchases. I immediately purchased another warranty for my new Kindle - highly recommended!

I recently bought this plan for a portable GPS unit. The SquareTrade information arrived on-time and the same day I received a very friendly message from customer service on my voicemail. She said to call if I had any questions and how to contact them. They even followed up again the next day to try and reach me, but I wasn't available.

Luckily I haven't had a reason to use they're service but the initial contact makes me confident that if I ever have to, It'll all be good.

I haven't given any stars because I have not dealt w/them other than the initial welcome, but I hope I never need to.

Wow. All I can say is wow. I bought a Playstation 3 on ebay 3 months ago. I was worried that it would break so I purchased a warranty from SquareTrade. After I reported it broken they sent me some possible fixes. When those didn't work they had me send it in(they paid for shipping). They sent it to their repair team. After a week of them recieving it. I had the money in my paypal account. I even got reimbursed for the 2 games I got with the playstation and I didn't send those to them. I'm not sure what I can say about a warranty before I have to use it, and since the product that the warranty is associated with is brand-new, I cannot comment on the quality of the Square Trade warranty.

However, after I got the warranty, I found out that Square Trade offers blanket warranty service for any electronic thing that you purchase. In other words, if you are a person who prefers to get warrantees for the things that you purchase, there is no need to purchase in-store warranties for your electronics. They claim that you can save a lot of money by going with Square Trade for your warranties, though I cannot comment on that. You can put the warrantees for all your electronics online with Square Trade, and keep track of them on your account page.

I bought a refurbished XBOX360 off ebay and thought it would be a good idea to get it insured. As luck would have it, within a year of usage the Ring of Death showed up.

However, the claim was hassle-free and the service, both over email and over the phone was very prompt and helpful.

I purchased an Xbox 360 refurb console and the Square Trade warranty popped up as a option to buy.
Would Amazon.com suggest something that didn't belong with a particular item? Didn't think so, I had no experience with that. But now I KNOW so.
This warranty is for a NEW console. You have to buy one from Square Trade for a refurb. It is more expensive and for only 2 years.
After I registered on the ST website, I noticed they said my Xbox was new. I called and they told me I had bought the wrong warranty. They had no problem refunding my money and I then purchased the more expensive warranty on their website.
Shame on you Amazon.com for suggesting this item, shame on me for not doing more thorough research.

I purchased this warranty with my purchase of a new digital camera from Sony. I recently purchased a Nikon camera but dropped the camera thus cracking the screen. After researching Nikon's warranty and other camera manufacturers' warranties online, I realized that Sony was the manufacturer to offer an additional service plan that covered accidental damage such as drops and spills. However, when searching for cameras on Amazon, I saw this warranty offer from SquareTrade. After reading the terms and conditions of the SquareTrade warranty, I realized that I could purchase a camera from any manufacturer and still purchase an additional warranty plan that covers accidental damage. Sony offers an accidental damage service plan for a little less than SquareTrade. However, SquareTrade provides everything online - you can save your receipt online so you don't have to look for it when you want to place a claim, you can complete the entire claim process online, and you ship your damaged item free. I felt that these added conveniences more than made up the few dollars difference between the Sony offer and the SquareTrade offer. In the end, I ended up purchasing a Sony camera but with a SquareTrade warranty with accidental damage.

A quick disclaimer - I have not filed any claims with SquareTrade yet but I have went on their website, registered, and sent in my receipt for them to keep on file. The website is easy to use and the entire registration and receipt submission process was quick and easy. I would recommend anyone thinking about an additional warranty to look into SquareTrade.

Six months after purchasing a $335 digicam from Amazon along with a SquareTrade ADH warranty my camera got wet and stopped working.

It took about ten days to get a brand new replacement camera in my hands!

I submitted a warranty claim online and SquareTrade e-mailed a prepaid UPS return label. They offered to reimburse the original purchase price of the camera in the form of a paper check, PayPal credit or Amazon gift card. I chose the gift card because I intended to buy the same camera from Amazon and SquareTrade offers an additional 5% if you choose this option. The price of the camera had dropped by about $80 since my original purchase so I was able to get the same model, a new 3-year SquareTrade ADH warranty and a spare battery to boot!

Highly recommended if you loath calling manufacturer's support centers or just want a bit of insurance against accidents.

My digital camera broke so I filed a claim on square trade's website. They instantly sent me a shipping label and I sent my camera off. My camera arrived in Texas 4 days later. The next day my camera was examined and my claim was approved. Three days later I received the full value of my digital camera. I was eccstatic. I have three warranties through squaretrade and this was the first time I ever had to file a claim. I was more than impressed with the efficiency of their service. I will definitely buy all my warranties through squaretrade.

This is the second time I had to file a claim with square trade, the experience was no different than the first. Courteous friendly prompt service and human interaction (no pressing 1 for english).
When I recommend square trade to my friends I often hear "Square who?" but then I tell them about prices and service and suddenly evrybody is interested.

These guys are great, I purchased a 47" Vizio and months later the unit failed. They told me it was to big to send in for repairs and that they would refund the purchase price, which they did. I would have given all 5 stars, but because they couldn't find my faxed claim report and I guess though not their problem 2-3 day delay for Paypal to clear repayment.

Both times my claim was handled very quickly and professionally. Although Square Trade determined the items were not repairable, they made the decision to refund my purchase price within 2 days and the refund was deposited within 5 days. I've been getting SquareTrade warranties for some time now, since they are much less expensive than the store ones (the store ones don't hit my price 'sweet spot' and are more than I want to spend).

I recently got a solid black line down a 2-year old plasma TV. I called ST and the next business day a technician showed up, examined it, and said the plasma was shot. Two days later, I got an email saying that the original $1200 had been deposited in my PayPal account. I went out and bought a new one (much better than the original because TVs improved in the last 2 years). I like the $1200, but I like better that it was so painless.

P.S. I talked my daughter into a iPhone warranty included if you destroy it yourself. Sure enough, her daughter stepped on it and she also wound up with a new one.

BIG TIP!!: Before using it for a large item, get a warranty for something very small (like a $10 item). This puts you on their list and you get 20% discount on the next purchase.

I purchased a Square Trade Warranty for the first time to cover an under-cabinet TV which had been refurbished. Within a few months the TV completely shut down. I then emailed Square Trade and explained the problem. I received instructions on how to return the item and was provided with a shipping label. As soon as they received the TV and found it to be defective I was refunded the full purchase price. Communication and service with Square Trade are excellent. I would highly recommend them for any purchase made either on Ebay or elsewhere. I have recently purchased a warranty for my mother's new TV for 3 years at a very reasonble price. I ordered this warranty for a camera that we purchased for our daughter who is turning 16 on 7/20. I had questions about the warranties and I was responded to very quickly. I received the email the next day after I made this purchase. I also like the fact that they have an excellent rating with the Better Business Bureau and for me this is a huge plus. I pray that I will never have to use this warranty but at least I can have the peace of mind that this company is reputable and will honor what they are selling.

I was a bit skeptic at first of an on-line warranty for any electronic product. But I am a frequent shopper of electronics in eBay and some have failed after a while. I decided to give SquareTrade a shot, and I couldn't be happier with that decision. At a reasonable price, they reimbursed me fully for the cost of a camera I bought on eBay which failed about 9 months after I bought it.
The process was super-fast and easy, actually much easier than any manufacturer's warranty. The customer service is stellar, why can't others be as efficient and pleasant as these folks? It just makes us customers return!
I now regularly purchase this warranty when I shop electronics on-line.

SquareTrade Warranty: 3-Years - Electronics $200-250 I bought a 22 inch computer monitor two years ago. Came with a one year manufacturer warranty. Why would a manufacturer only warranty an item for a year? That's what I thought, too so I bought a STW for less than $30. Guess what went out about a year and a half later. I had to package it up and send it back to them and their return policy would not let me pay for any added features (signature delivery, insurance). The good news is within two weeks I had a check back for the original purchase amount(less taxes). By that time the price had fallen, I got a model with a manufacturer three year warranty for less money. I own several of these warranties. If you are going to buy a warranty this is where I'd look first.

I purchased a warranty for an Xbox that I gave my son as a gift. When the dreaded red dot appeared after 4 months, I dug out the warranty and submitted a claim by following the very clear directions. I had a warranty on refub. xbox360 That I bought off ebay. It was a year warranty. It broke after 11 months. They were good about troble shooting, and then I sent it to them. I got a full refund. Very easy to work with. I was disappointed to find out they don't do warranty's anymore on refub. xboxes from ebay. But I have already bought other warranty's with them. I would highly recamend them.

We purchased a squaretrade warranty for a portable DVD player and unfortunately got a lemon of a product.
This was our story...
We used the player once and got a disc error message, since it was still under the factory warranty we paid to send it back to the manufacturers, got it back a month later only to find out the screen has gone out when it was being fixed/shipped. When we called the company back they would not cover it since it was now out of the warranty period, plus they did not cover screens.

So we figured we would put a claim in with Squaretrade fully expecting to get the same run around. However we were pleasantly surprised. We filed our claim, they sent us the shipping label, we got a conformation three days later that it had arrived and that we would receive a full reimbursement of the purchase price within a few days.

I couldn't believe how simple and painless it was and at a competitive price. We will be doing business with squaretrade again.

I purchased a used Xbox and thank goodness added a 2 year SquareTrade warranty for around $12. Like all Xbox's, this one was junk and got the same ring of death that I've read many others have gotten. I first sent it to Microsoft and they said they would fix it for $99, which is all I paid for it in the first place. I decided it wasn't worth it so I decided to make use of the SquareTrade warranty. I sent the Xbox to SquareTrade and in less than 2 weeks my money was refunded- no hassles at all.

Well, so I bought a Pioneer Premier car MP3/CD player. About a week after the 2 year manufacturer's warranty was up, wouldn't you know it, I started to have issues...first the face illumination lights wouldn't work. Than a month later the CD wouldn't eject. I'm glad I got a SquareTrade 3 year warranty! At the time I purchased the Pioneer, SquareTrade sent a message asking if I wanted a 3 year warranty for the stereo. It was a promotion and it was a measly $9.00 on my $150 stereo, so I said sure. Usually their warranties are about 15% of the piece of the item, FYI.
Anyway, when I decided to file a claim it took 16 days start to finish. Filed my claim, sent my item in(which they fully paid and didn't deduct from my claim amount; don't know how common that is...)which they approved and gave me a full refund through Paypal. Very hassle free. I really recommend their services for laptops, car CD players & car amps: products which are know to have to deal with vibration and extreme heat on a routine basis.

I don't normally purchase extended warranties. However, my routers die out in a year or two, so, with the low price of the 3 year extended warranty, I decided to get it. Although I haven't used it (and hope I don't have to), I find their communications to be very good.

They made a mistake on the warranty period, discovered the error, and contacted me to let me know it would be corrected. They have been very responsive. The only thing I would like to see improved, so far, is clear instructions that you need to upload your receipt to them so they have the actual product name that the warranty covers. Otherwise the warranty just say's "Electronic item" (electronic in my case).

I like their site where you can log in and see your warranty information. Also, the people I spoke to were friendly.

I'm satisfied that if I need to use the warranty coverage, it will be taken care properly.

I have a SquareTrade warranty on a new item I purchased in a local big box store, and I'm very happy with their service. As a company, they're trustworthy, or seem so, anyway.

However, I take issue with their favoritism for eBay. What am I talking about? Look at the terms above, in the product description. They will only cover NEW items purchased here, and will not cover used or refurbished. However, they WILL cover used or refurbished if the item was bought on eBay.

So why does an eBay sale of a used item get the ability to be covered by a SquareTrade warranty, but a used item purchased here is not allowed?

I spoke to SquareTrade via email, and they confirmed this: eBay gets warranty service for used items, but this site does not.

This seems very unfair to me. What makes an item sold here less worthy than an item sold at the auction site? Why do the Marketplace sellers and buyers here have to deal with being second-class citizens as far as SquareTrade is concerned?

I really like SquareTrade, but I think this policy is rather bone-headed and uneven. So while I give them five stars for the things they do cover here (new, in-box items), I dock them two stars for giving buyers here fewer options than buyers at the eBay auction site.

It's simply not fair, but it's their business, and if they want to shut out all of us buying on this Marketplace, it's their prerogative.

I purchased a Panasonic DMC-ZS3 camera in December '09. I purchased the SquareTrade warranty with accident prevention in March '10. In June '10, I dropped my camera on a concrete sidewalk with the lens extended and it only left a small mark on the edge of the lens ring, but the lens would no longer extend when the camera was turned on and the camera would no longer take photos. Panasonic warranty would not cover accidental damage. I sent the camera into Squaretrade with a prepaid UPS shipping label, they verified the damage and claim and sent the reimbursement via Paypal. The whole process from the time I shipped the camera was about a week. Excellent service and coverage. I have already purchased another camera (Panasonic DMC-ZS7) and will definitely be acquiring another Squaretrade warranty.

It seems pretty simple . I paid for an insurance policy for my new camera. Nothing has happened yet to see how well the policy holder responds. However, taking the policy out was prompted by a previously owner camera being dropped and the repairs exceeding the value of the camera. The premium seems very reasonable, as was the lesson in insuring the camera This time.

I have purchased a Square Trade warranty for most of my ebay purchases as most are used or refurbished and do not come with any replacement coverage.I also have many Square Trade plans on new products such as computers,cameras and electronics as the price and service can't be beat.I have filed two claims and both were settled with full payout within a few days.

I have sevaral warranties with Square trade. You cannot find a better deal than they offer. I have called them several times and there is always a person there to speak with and answer questions. I like that you can use their service regardless of where you bought the item you wish to warrant. The latest cell phone that I purchased did not come with an extended warranty plan. I contacted Square trade and there was no problem getting a warranty from them. I have not had to have any service performed yet, but I feel they will be there if I need them. Very easy to deal with!

While I was not happy that my gps unit failed, I was more than happy I had bought coverage with Square Trade. There was some initial confusion because Amazon had both of the words "new" and "refurbished" in their description of my gps unit I was able to buy a 3 yr. policy and because it was in fact refurbished should only have been able to buy a 1 yr. policy. When I called in with my claim the reaction was as if there was no problem. They simply changed my policy to 1 yr., said I was covered, send in the unit. Within a week of sending it in, I had e-mail confirmation that it was in fact bad and that my check(payment in full)was in the mail. Thanks so much Square Trade for the fantastic coverage.

My Nintendo Lite turned out to act unreliably, which did not happen for a few months after purchasing it. A call to Nintendo revealed it to be a counterfeit (Do not purchase one from overseas). A call to Square Trade got me shipping instructions and a free printed label with free shipping. A couple of days later I had an e-mail asking about how I wanted the refund. Try matching that anywhere else!!

Comparison with N.E.W. warranty, November 11, 2009
The product I bought (Panasonic microwave) led to an offer of both the SquareTrade warranty and N.E.W. warranty. 2-Year Replacement Plan for Electronics Products $100 to $124.99 I bought the SquareTrade warranty which did not have a link to its "terms and conditions" on the Amazon site. You can only view the complete description of the contract after you have paid for it (but you can get a full refund of either company's warranty within the first 30 days). The terms and conditions of the N.E.W. warranty are available for view prior to purchase. There are significant differences.
The main differences I can see is that the N.E.W. replacement warranty provides the full replacement cost upon covered breakdown (but you still have to ship or deliver the item to the N.E.W. facility at your own cost -- That's in the fine print.)
The SquareTrade warranty allows it to give you a "similar" refurbished replacement item, repair it (with non-original parts), or pay "up to the replacement cost" of the item. If ST decides to pay the replacement cost, it will deduct the cost of any prior repairs, so you may not have enough to actually replace the item if it breaks down more than once. ST's replacement item will not be covered by the warranty; ST's coverage stops once it has provided services up to the purchase price of the item. You can't get coverage at that point and if the replacement breaks down, you're out of luck. To the good, ST does provide round-trip free shipping for repairs (and guarantees repairs within 5 days). But if ST decides the problem was not covered under the warranty, the shipping is not free.
Under the ST warranty, if your item is large enough to qualify for in-house service, it might be a better deal. It seems more likely (imho) that your item will actually be repaired rather than replaced with an unwarrantable refurbished item if a repair person schedules a visit and comes to your house. Again, though, the repair parts don't have to be original manufacturer's parts and coverage stops once the cost of the repairs equals the purchase price.
Another major difference is the extent of coverage. After the expiration of coverage under the manufacturer's warranty, N.E.W.'s warranty expressly covers normal wear and tear and damage caused by the environment. SquareTrade covers "normal use and operation of the product when used in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and owner's manual" (long list of exclusions and caveats following such as exposure to weather, dust, rust, insects, cracked or damaged monitors or display screens, liquids, etc.) If it's offered, you can buy additional Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH) warranty coverage for which there is a $50 deductible. The description of ST's ADH coverage excludes negligence and normal wear and tear (along with a list of other exclusions). It's not clear what's left. ADH coverage was not offered with my item.
While N.E.W. offers a two-year warranty and SquareTrade a three-
year warranty, that difference appears to be one of semantics. N.E.W. says its warranty begins after the manufacturer warranty ends, whenever that may be. For my item, it's one year, so N.E.W. would cover years two and three. SquareTrade coverage begins on the date of purchase but excludes any claim during the period covered by the manufacturer's warranty so realistically, it's only good the last two years of the three-year period.
If my Panasonic microwave is eligible for in-home repair, SquareTrade may be a good deal. I don't expect to drop it or leave it in the rain and would prefer not to pay to ship it to a facility (as I would have to do to get the replacement cost from N.E.W.) But if the cost of a single in-home repair is going to eat up the entire value of my warranty (or even half), I will check into the shipping cost and may opt for N.E.W. instead.

I bought a refurbished Xbox 360 with a 90 day limited warranty from the company that sold it to me and received an offer by email for the Square Trade warranty for the device for a very reasonable amount. I normally don't opt for extended warranties on things I purchase but I had heard that there have been some issues with older Xbox 360 units so I thought it might be a worthwhile investment. Turns out I was right, after about a year of using my game console without issue I turned on the unit and it had the dreaded red ring of death. Long story short, they reimbursed my Paypal account for the entire amount of purchase and even sent me a prepaid shipping label. I highly recommend Square Trade, they are aces!!!

When I purchased items for Christmas for my children on Ebay, this warranty was offered on both items. It was not expensive and seemed like a good idea at the time. The insurance effective date of December worked well since I purchased the items in late October. It gave me a little leeway to work with. Well sure enough in January, my daughter's item became defective. I had to call upon the warranty people at Square Trade. They were helpful in giving my useful tips on how to make the item operational. When that did not work, I got no hassle on how to get the item to them and then later getting my money back. It was all done in a timely manner. The slow end was myself. I am glad I purchased the warranty and would so consider them for anything else I purchase in the future.

Squaretrade does beat all retailers prices on warranties. And there service os above average. Few downsides if you get their warranty for gaming, they make you pay for repairs up front then reimburse you. And they slow with contact I always had to email them to get them to tell me where I was at in the claim process.

I thought it would be automatically be applied to the product, but in reading the insurance info it seems I have to register the product and fax a copy of the reciept. I tried to get the Insurance cancelled but by the time I got around to do this, my 30 day time period has lapsed. I feel I have just wasted the money for protection, and I cannot afford to waste money this way as I have just been laid off. Most people are too busy to take time to do all these things.
